President Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats are working hard to create a better future for Hoosier families. This is why Democrats delivered the American Rescue Plan, because it will help put COVID-19 in the rearview mirror.

Let’s look at some of the top ways the Rescue Plan is helping Hoosier families:

Investing in Education

Thanks to American Rescue Plan, Indiana K-12 schools are receiving over $2 billion in additional funds to help address learning loss and to finally guarantee Indiana teachers make a better salary.

Expanding Broadband Internet

The Rescue Plan invests more than $250 million towards expanding Indiana’s broadband internet services. More Hoosiers than ever will have access to high-speed, reliable internet.

Sending Direct Payments to Individuals

The Biden Administration and Indiana Democrats have delivered checks of up to $1,400 per person to 91% of all Hoosiers. These relief checks are helping Hoosiers pay bills, afford groceries, or simply making ends meet during the pandemic.

Lowering Taxes for Low-Income Families

The American Rescue Plan helps Hoosier families by increasing the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 and $3,600 per child under 6 and from $2,000 to $3,000 per child over 6 and under 17. This is lifting 80,000 children out of poverty.

Making Healthcare More Affordable

Thanks to Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats, health care just got more affordable for Hoosiers. The Rescue Plan expands subsidies through the Affordable Care Act and will add 1.7 million Americans onto health care plans. Some low-income Hoosiers will see their premiums eliminated entirely and no enrollees will pay more than 8.5% of their income on premiums.

Strengthening Law Enforcement

Joe Biden and Indiana Democrats didn’t just deliver for Hoosier families and communities, they delivered for our first responders, too. Under the Rescue Plan, more than $350 billion was directed to help recruit new police officers and help communities across the country fight crime, including here in Indiana. And to top it all off, the Rescue Plan has allowed communities like Noblesville to give the town’s first responders a much-needed bonus after heroically fighting COVID-19.

Developing Indiana’s Economy

American Rescue Plan funds will be used in the state’s $500 million Regional Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). Hoosier communities are starting to build back better from COVID-19 and it’s because Democrats delivered for them.

Investing in Our Public Transit

Public transportation organizations like IndyGo are seeing a $12 million boost thanks to Joe Biden and Democrats. The Rescue Plan is providing funding for IndyGo’s new Purple Line and will run between downtown Indianapolis and downtown Lawrence.

Lowering Taxes for Workers

The Rescue Plan ensures that 383,000 childless workers in Indiana now qualify for nearly $1,000 of relief through the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Direct Contributions to Communities

The American Rescue Plan is delivering about $5.8 billion into Indiana communities and county governments. Visit our American Rescue Plan: How it Benefits You page to see how much money is being given in your area.
