Todd Young’s Richard Mourdock Moment

Even in Cases of Rape, Incest, or Endangerment of Mother’s Life, Young Opposes a Woman’s Right to Choose

INDIANAPOLIS – Yesterday marked the four-year anniversary since disgraced former U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock argued in a debate that pregnancy from rape was something “God intended” and that he opposed a woman’s right to choose even in the cases of rape or incest. Congressman Todd Young has also opposed a woman’s right to choose.

But Congressman Young takes it one step further. He said in a questionnaire this May that under no circumstances, including rape, incest, and if the mother’s life is endangered, should an abortion be legal. Todd Young’s out-of-touch views show the extent to which he will pursue harmful policies to score political points—even when a woman’s life is in danger.

“Congressman Todd Young has outdone even Richard Mourdock with his harmful positions on women’s health,” said Brooke Bainum, press secretary. “Young’s belief that the government should get between a woman and her doctor even when her own life is in danger demonstrates a stunning commitment to an agenda that is dangerous to Hoosier women and families.”
