Don’t forget: Sen. Young withdraws support for $1 trillion infrastructure bill
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated the six-month anniversary of President Joe Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (The Jobs Act) and its investments that will transform Indiana’s future. Thanks to The Jobs Act, more than 4,300 infrastructure projects have broken ground in just six months – including a new port for Tell City, upgrades to South Bend’s public transit system, and funding to repair the historic Cline Avenue bridge in Northwest Indiana. U.S. Congressmen André Carson and Frank Mrvan voted “YES” to this law and the opportunity to create a better future for Hoosier families.
Not one Indiana Republican in the state’s Congressional delegation – especially Todd Young – supported The Jobs Act despite campaigning on the very issues themselves. With the “NO” vote, the Indiana GOP proved they have no plans for Indiana’s future – just partisanship.
In fact, Republican politicians like Jennifer-Ruth Green claimed the Cline Avenue bridge project was a “failed policy”. Todd Young famously provided a last-minute flip flop on The Jobs Act after pretending to lead on the policy for months. And, Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer even said opposing infrastructure investments were a “great campaign to run on”. The Indiana GOP has no plan for Indiana’s future – just partisanship.
There’s little doubt: The Jobs Act is providing a once-in-a-generation investment to Indiana’s infrastructure systems. From repairing roads and bridges to expanding broadband access, it’s a record Democratic leaders like Frank Mrvan and Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott will campaign on throughout the 2022 election year. Here’s what President Biden, André Carson, and Mrvan have delivered for Hoosiers:
