Outside D.C. fundraiser, Rep. Braun refuses to explain why he’s holding more campaign events in Washington than in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – Rep. Braun made his way back to D.C. on Wednesday to attend yet another fundraiser with special interests, but wouldn’t answer questions about why he’s spending more time in Washington hobnobbing with the GOP elite than he is with voters in Indiana.

Since the primary, Rep. Braun has held more fundraisers in D.C. than public campaign events in Indiana, and Hoosiers are wondering why he’s more interested in befriending Mitch McConnell and his allies in Washington than making the case to potential voters. But when asked outside his D.C. fundraiser why he’s not back campaigning in Indiana, Rep. Braun refused to give an answer.

“Rep. Braun’s refusal to explain his repeated visits to Washington to solicit money from special interests should be alarming to any voter concerned with whether Rep. Braun would favor his newfound friends in the swamp over the voters he hopes to represent,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “He doesn’t have an explanation for his now laughable claims that he’d only be accountable to Hoosiers instead of the Washington special interests if elected – and to make matters worse, he clearly doesn’t think Hoosiers deserve one.”
