Operations Coordinator

The Indiana Democratic Party (IDP) is seeking an Operations Coordinator to help and support our team. In working with the Chair and Executive Director, the Coordinator will oversee the office, run payroll and oversee benefits, oversee IT and office equipment, accounts, and files. They will also be involved in event planning and execution and ensure that the party and its staff and projects all run smoothly. 

Overall Duties: 

  • Oversees operations of the office and ensures campaigns and committees have productive workspaces. Manages the relationships with building and parking companies.
  • Works on overall organization of filing both physical and digital (recordkeeping) and ensures best practices for IT and security. 
  • Oversees phone system, internet, printer, and supplies to ensure proper functioning. 
  • Responsible for onboarding of all new staff and helps current staff navigate any issues with pay, benefits, schedules, etc. 
  • Point person for health benefits, 401(k), insurance, payroll administrator, reimbursements, travel / logistics, etc. 
  • Takes the lead on event planning and execution in partnership with the Executive Director and other team members:
    • Tours and reviews spaces for events.
    • Works with caterers, vendors, and sound and stage consultants.
    • Responsible for successful operations with annual dinner, biennial conventions, party retreat, annual holiday party, and other party functions. 
  • Responsible for establishing coordinated field offices, including securing space, obtaining proper liability insurance, and utilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum of at least two (2) years with campaign experience or similar. Experience working in operations or customer service is also preferred.

  • Good verbal, written, and analytical skills. 
  • Experience following and updating budgets. 
  • Ability to manage several tasks and projects at the same time. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Detail oriented and good follow through on tasks. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff and external stakeholders and represent the organization with professionalism. 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 

Salary:

Salary is $50,000 per annum. Position includes full medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits, a 401(k) account, and monthly tech stipend. Position is part of the staff union.

Regional Organizing Director

The Indiana Democratic Party is hiring Regional Organizing Directors to build a stronger party in the field throughout the Hoosier State. The role is ideal for someone looking to be more involved in politics and party building and who wants to dedicate themselves to learning more about the inner workings of campaigns, strategic planning, and voter targeting and contact. These are important roles to building back a fair and equitable two party system of government in Indiana. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Will work closely with IDP and Data leadership and will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to expand the volunteer network for the party/campaign.
  • Organizers will manage and execute voter contact tactics such as phone banks, text banks, canvasses, voter registration drives, days of action, and visibility events. 
  • Develop regional strategies and systems that lead teams to successfully meet daily, weekly, and monthly organizing metrics, as well as maintain data integrity.
  • Work with the Data team to target areas based on Party strategies, “cut turf,” create contact lists, and utilize software, applications, and other tools to maximize engagement with Hoosier voters. 
  • Build and maintain political relationships with county / local leaders in regions to increase buy-in and trust for the Party at large and locally. Represent Party at local events and meetings. 
  • Work with state leadership to implement new communications, messaging, and digital strategies in your region to increase local engagement with the Party in coordination with the Communications team. 
  • Ensure that all organizing volunteers in the region are properly trained on the values-based mission and technical aspects of the job and work to increase volunteer capacity and productivity. 
  • Keep team focused and motivated during fluctuating work schedules and environments (heavy campaign seasons and low times). 
  • Consistently meet stated deadlines and communicate with state leadership regularly.

  • Commitment to the election of Democrats up and down the ballot 
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable to changing needs and program priorities
  • Positive attitude required
  • Previous political campaign experience a plus
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus
