Michael Griffin wins caucus to replace Frank Mrvan and represent Hoosiers in Indiana Senate District 1
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, issued the following statement from Chairman Mike Schmuhl after Michael Griffin – Clerk-Treasurer of Highland – was elected to succeed former State Senator Frank Mrvan to serve the District 1 seat in the Indiana State Senate:
“First and foremost, the Indiana Democratic Party wants to thank Frank Mrvan for his years of service to Senate District 1 and Indiana with the kind of honor, passion, and commitment that exemplifies the definition of what public service should be in our country. Senator Mrvan has been a consistent champion for Hoosier families, and his support for issues like liveable wage jobs, well-funded public schools, and expanded benefits for veterans have made a major impact on our state. We wish Frank a happy retirement.
Indiana Democrats are proud to welcome Michael Griffin as the new Democratic state senator for District 1. Michael is a proven leader in the Highland community, and Democrats could not be more excited to have another champion in the General Assembly fighting for a better future for Hoosier families. He will join Democrats in advocating for livable wage jobs for workers, affordable and accessible broadband internet, a revitalized infrastructure system, and fully-funding Indiana’s public schools. Democrats are delivering solutions to the kitchen-table issues most important to Hoosiers and I know Senator Griffin is ready to get to work next week.” – Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party
