How many Chinese-made auto parts could Rep. Braun buy with his $18 million in annual profits?

Rep. Braun made $18 million in profits in 2017 as the CEO of a company that makes and sells auto parts made in China at the expense of Hoosier workers
INDIANAPOLIS – Rep. Braun has not only lied repeatedly about the fact that he makes and sells auto parts from China, he’s also loathe to mention how much he profits at the expense of Hoosier workers, profits that could afford him more of his own Promaxx parts than he’d ever need.

Last Friday, an Associated Press report dashed Rep. Braun’s false claims that his business was “made in America,” revealing that his company makes and sells its own line of aftermarket auto parts that are made in China. While Rep. Braun, who’s running to represent one of the largest auto manufacturing states in the nation, could have chosen to have Promaxx Automotive parts made anywhere, he chose to have many of them made in China at the expense of Hoosier workers.

As the AP noted, Rep. Braun rarely if ever brings up Promaxx on the campaign trail. He also, however, tends not to bring up how much profit he makes from a business that relies heavily on foreign-manufactured auto parts. Last year alone, Rep. Braun made almost $18 million in profits from Meyer Distributing, yet still chose to source his parts from China instead of Indiana to make a few more bucks.

Those kinds of profits could get Rep. Braun a lot of cheap foreign-made parts. With his $18 million in annual profits from making and selling Chinese auto parts at the expense of Hoosier workers, he could have bought:

“Rep. Braun made tens of millions of dollars in profits last year alone, but that wasn’t enough for him — he chose to source Promaxx parts from China at the expense of Hoosier workers just to pad his bottom line a little more,” said Michael Feldman, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “If Rep. Braun really cared about being ‘made in America,’ he wouldn’t try and lie to Hoosiers while covering up his immense profits made from selling out to Chinese manufacturers.”
