SIGN THE PETITION: Education
Our goal is to restore funding for our public schools, and help facilitate an environment that keeps good, hardworking teachers in districts that need them the most. Further, we will make concerted efforts to invest state dollars in early childhood education and implement universal Pre-Kindergarten so all Hoosier children have a fair start in school by the age of 5.
Protect our health care
Congressional Republicans have made it quite clear. They've sided with the wealthy and insurance company CEOs, financing a massive tax cut for them by eliminating health care coverage for millions of Americans.
We know the Affordable Care Act saves Hoosiers' lives and has provided access to critical health care services like addiction and mental health treatment for thousands of Hoosiers. We know a preexisting condition shouldn’t mean a lifetime of medical debt...or worse.
Democrats have said we will not stop until all Hoosiers, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, are included in our state’s nondiscrimination laws. Equality is not just a civil rights issue – it is an economic one too. We must show the country that Indiana is a state that welcomes everyone.
Our party is committed to providing our veterans, servicemembers, and military families the benefits they deserve. Our duty to those who serve our nation does not end when they leave that service: we must guarantee that those who serve our nation have access to the health benefits, education and job opportunities we promised to them.
Paid family and medical leave
More than 80 percent of Americans support it. Paid family and medical leave works for working families. First-time parents deserve time to bond with their newborn. Families will need to care for sick loved ones or aging parents. It's time for Indiana to take the lead and pass working family-friendly policies!
Thank you Congressmen Carson and Visclosky!
Thank you, Congressman Carson and Congressman Visclosky for voting against the GOP's divisive tax bill. Republicans in Congress rammed the bill through without a single Democratic vote. They should do the right thing and engage Democrats to craft real reform. Thank you, for doing the right thing and voting no!
