Todd Young adds $280 billion to the national debt – despite calling “socialist spending” a “national security concern”

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today issued the following response to Todd Young’s new campaign ad by passing along Jim Banks and Mike Braun’s reviews of the CHIPS and Science Act:

“DEMS’ FAKE CHINA BILL ALLOWS YOUR TAXDOLLARS TO GO TO COMMUNIST CHINA.” – Jim Banks, 7.22.22

“Everything in either the CHIPS, or the broader bill — either the $54 billion or the $250 billion — none of it’s paid for.” – Mike Braun, 7.22.2022

Republicans like Banks, Braun, Larry Bucshon, Greg Pence, and Victoria Spartz – a majority of the state’s delegation – opposed Todd Young’s CHIPS Act because it didn’t abide by the Indiana GOP’s extremist agenda. This law will also make it harder for Young to win back MAGA Republicans, voters who abandoned him over the summer

Additionally, Todd Young added another $280 billion to the national debt – despite campaigning against government spending for his entire career. Young has added nearly $16 trillion to the national debt during his 12 years in Congress.

Two-Faced Todd is being left behind by his Republican Party, because he says one thing to voters in Indiana but does another in Washington. Hoosier loathe politicians like Young, and it’s why they will reject him on November 8.

Todd Young, 9.29.2021:  “My new TV ad highlights how my CHIPS Act puts America on offense against the Chinese Communist Party and ensures we don’t fall behind China in technological innovation.”

Mike Braun, 7.22.2022: “We do have a strategic issue where we’re not keeping some things here that are vital. Whether that’s done by the federal government becoming a partner in it, I’m not so sure. Everything in either the CHIPS, or the broader bill — either the $54 billion or the $250 billion — none of it’s paid for. So, you’ve got to always take that into consideration. So, those are two issues.”

Jim Banks, 7.22.22: “DEMS’ FAKE CHINA BILL ALLOWS YOUR TAXDOLLARS TO GO TO COMMUNIST CHINA.”

The Republic: “Rep. Greg Pence, R-Indiana, has voted against legislation supported by the largest employer in his district that seeks to boost the domestic semiconductor production and high-tech research programs that lawmakers say will help the country stay economically competitive with China and other countries in the decades ahead.”
