Anderson Herald-Bulletin: Council OKs ARP funds with $9M for water utility
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today celebrated the brighter future the American Rescue Plan is STILL creating for Madison County. The City of Anderson is set to see a $9 million investment to help improve and revitalize the community’s aging water system. Additionally, about $14.1 million of Rescue Plan dollars will be allocated to nonprofits and small businesses. These investments will deliver a brighter future for Hoosiers, and it was Indiana Democrats who got it done.
In contrast, the Indiana Republican Party – including Victoria Spartz and Todd Young – said “NO” to this brighter future. Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer called this project “socialism” – claiming the Republicans’ opposition was a “great campaign to run on”. The Indiana GOP’s opposition to the kitchen-table issues is another reminder they have no plan for Indiana’s future – just abiding by an extremist agenda, like making abortion access against the law.

The Anderson City Council has passed two ordinances that spell out how the city will utilize $23.1 million in federal American Rescue Plan funds.
The council Tuesday passed 5-4 an ordinance that would provide $14.1 million to local nonprofits and small businesses with one important change.
The council also removed the $705,605 sought by the city to administer the grant funds.
And the same vote also approved the $3 million for premium pay for employees who worked through the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the second ordinance, the council voted unanimously to provide $9 million of the federal funds for infrastructure improvements to the city’s aging water system. […]
