How to Become a State Delegate
State Delegates are the only voting members at State Convention. To become a delegate, you should file to run in the May 8, 2018 Primary. Fill out the CAN-37 form and file it with your local county clerk’s office. Deadline to file is noon local time on February 9, 2018.

There will be 2,333 delegates to the 2018 State Convention. Delegates are apportioned to all 92 counties. Click here to view each county’s allotment.
State Delegates will vote on the following at Convention:
- Candidates for Secretary of State, Treasurer, & Auditor
- Indiana Democratic Party 2018 Platform
- Congressional District Representatives to the Party’s Resolutions, Credentials, and Rules
2018 Platform Process
The Indiana Democratic Party adopts a Platform at each State Convention. This year’s convention will be held on Saturday, June 16.
Party staff and State Central Committee members held three public hearings (Gary, Indianapolis, & Scottsburg) in January 2018 where over 250 people attended to tell their personal stories and give input suggestions for this year’s Platform.

January – Three Platform Hearings
February – Party staff begins drafting 2018 Platform
April 2 – First Platform draft will be put on our website for a public comment period of 30 days
May – Final drafting
June 8 – Final draft with public comment considerations sent to the State Central Committee
June 15 – State Central Committee considers and approves Platform
June 16 – Platform is presented during the General Session at State Convention for consideration and adoption by delegates
