To do that, he announced to a crowd of about 50 people outside the Tippecanoe County Courthouse Wednesday morning, he is running as a Democratic candidate for state superintendent of public instruction.   • 06/10/08 - Workers protest rising gas prices Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson spoke at the event, calling for Gov. Mitch Daniels to declare an energy emergency, which would result in the suspension of state sales tax on gas. Former Gov. Frank O'Bannon declared such an emergency in 2000. Long Thompson also publicized her plan to stop charging sales tax once the average price hits $2.75 a gallon. MORE
  • 06/06/08 - Linda Pence announces bid for Attorney General

     Saying she will impartially fight for Hoosiers, attorney Linda Pence on Thursday officially kicked off her campaign for Indiana attorney general. The Democrat from Indianapolis stopped in Fort Wayne as part of a six-city swing to announce her campaign. She formed her exploratory committee in January and has already raised $248,000.
