Schmuhl elected as Second District Chair
South Bend native managed Joe Donnelly’s campaign last year
INDIANAPOLIS – County chairs and vice chairs in the Second Congressional District elected South Bend native Mike Schmuhl as Second District Chair in a caucus meeting Sunday afternoon.
Schmuhl managed U.S. Rep Joe Donnelly’s campaign last year when Donnelly won despite the overwhelming Republican surge in Indiana and nationally. He most recently served as campaign manager and treasurer for Pete Buttigieg’s successful mayoral campaign in South Bend.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Mike to the State Central Committee, and I look forward to working with him as we enter the critical 2012 cycle with Joe Donnelly and John Gregg leading our ticket on behalf of Hoosier workers and families,” said Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker.
“Mike embodies the next generation of talent within the Indiana Democratic Party, and he’ll be a strong leader for the Second District,” Parker added.
Schmuhl grew up on the south side of South Bend and graduated in 2001 from St. Joseph’s High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in History.
He becomes the youngest member of the Indiana Democratic Party State Central Committee with full voting rights.
