02/20/2009 - Mayor attending meeting with Obama today (Evansville Courier & Press)

Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel will be in Washington, D.C., today to attend a U.S. Conference of Mayors gathering and meet with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden.

The meeting between President Obama and the mayors will take place at 9:30 a.m. Evansville time at the White House, focusing on implementation and accountability for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Before meeting with the president, the mayors will consult with senior White House staff and members of his cabinet, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu, and Education Secretary Arne Duncan.
