Indiana Democrats respond to Supreme Court order in Charlie White case
All eyes on Recount Commission to make fair, legal decision

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Democratic Party Chair Dan Parker issued the following statement in response to an order from the Indiana Supreme Court ensuring that the Recount Commission will proceed with reconsidering whether Republican Charlie White was legally registered to vote and eligible to run for and be sworn in as Secretary of State last year.

As Indiana Democrats had urged, the Supreme Court dismissed appeals by White and the Recount Commission and granted emergency transfer of the case from the Indiana Court of Appeals.

“This is a clear victory for the process of determining whether Charlie White should be Secretary of State,” Parker said. “Republicans threw out every roadblock they could to delay or discard this case, but the central question has never been answered.

“We hope the Recount Commission proceeds in a fair manner as it considers whether Charlie White was legally registered to vote and eligible to run for and become Secretary of State.”
